We have created a new role of Scrutiny and Improvement Coordinator within our Economic Crime Unit. This role supports the team in delivering key recommendations and actions identified at national, regional, and local levels, and helps coordinate the Constabulary's response to fraud investigation.
The post holder will build upon the Constabulary’s Economic Crime Strategy, particularly in responding to fraud investigations, and will support and coordinate across internal departments, communities, and partners.
The candidate must have substantial experience working in a partnership environment and be skilled in identifying and implementing best practices.
Experience with fraud investigations and police systems and processes is preferred.
Key functions of the role include:
* Developing and embedding best practices related to fraud investigations and representing the force at local, regional, and national levels.
* Delivering against HMICFRS and City of London Police recommendations and preparing for future inspections.
* Implementing systems and processes to enhance fraud capability in Cumbria and align with the Fraud Strategy and City of London Police standards.
* Creating business plans to translate strategic visions into operational actions and collaborating with staff and external partners for implementation.
* Maintaining a performance framework, working with managers and partners to identify and implement best practices, and conducting audits to support fraud awareness.
* Establishing operational systems to deliver effective responses for victims of fraud, integrating best practices across the county.
* Leading change initiatives to build upon and improve the current Fraud Investigation Model.
* Negotiating and influencing internal and external stakeholders to secure resources that assist victims, especially vulnerable community members.
* Supporting management in ensuring accountability for fraud investigations and providing investigative advice across units.
* Enhancing understanding of threat, harm, and risk related to fraud, and monitoring performance using MoRiLE/APMIS frameworks.
* Representing the Constabulary at local and regional meetings, providing updates and plans to mitigate fraud risks and safeguard vulnerable populations.
This position is temporarily funded for two years, with potential for extension based on review.
