The Medical Director provides high-levelclinical governance and strategic oversight for the organisations trainingprogrammes, ensuring they remain safe, evidence-based, and aligned withprofessional and regulatory standards. While largely a consultative role, theMedical Director contributes to the development and periodic review of clinicalcontent and may offer targeted support during key programme updates, complexquality matters, or when specialist input is required. On an occasional basis,and only where necessary, the post-holder may provide limited support orrepresentation to uphold clinical standards. Through this strategic level ofengagement, the Medical Director reinforces the organisations commitment tohigh-quality clinical education while enabling operational teams to manageday-to-day delivery.
Main duties of the job
* Provide strategic clinical oversight across all clinical programmes and simulation.
* Reviews and signs off clinical risk controls and escalation routes.
* Advises on curriculum clinical accuracy and updates based on national guidance and employer need.
* Supports quality of education through observation input, specialist coaching and clinical CPD strategy.
* Acts as senior clinical advisor in incidents, complaints or external scrutiny.
* Works closely with the Head of Education and Quality and Designated Safeguarding & Inclusion Lead where clinical risk overlaps with learner welfare.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered with GMC.
* Hold appropriate Teaching Qualification with relevant experience.
* A fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.
Skills and Abilities
* Excellent verbal and written communication.
* Be able to question and challenge.
Experience
* Clinical experience within the pre-hospital care, or emergency medicine sector.
* Experience within Offshore or Remote Medicine.
