We are currently seeking an Electrical Site Technician with experience in commercial and industrial work. Our client base is varied and you could be working at a range of different sites including chemical, agricultural and food & beverage industries. As an Electrical Site Technician you will be working at the client's various locations mainly around East Anglia therefore candidates living in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds or Diss areas are ideally situated for the role.
The successful candidate will have particular practical, productive and electrical engineering skills with adequate technical supervisory knowledge so as to be able to work on their own and manage a team proficiently and to carry out electrical installation work without immediate supervision in the most efficient and economical manner. You will be able to set out jobs from drawings and specifications and requisition the necessary materials; be able to accept responsibility for the proper completion of jobs and, if required, supervise other operatives.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
You will be responsible for carrying out electrical installation works in line with BS7671 and other relevant standards. The role also involves diagnosing and repairing electrical faults in industrial and commercial systems, including fault-finding, rewiring, and work on controls and instrumentation. You will assess material requirements and place orders accordingly, conduct routine maintenance and testing on electrical systems across various sectors, and ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications and regulations. High-quality workmanship and the ability to work independently without direct supervision are essential. The successful candidate will also support the management and development of apprentices, provide exceptional customer service, act as a key on-site contact liaising with project managers and site staff, and install systems in accordance with the 18th Edition wiring regulations. Additional responsibilities include managing Testing & Inspection certification, demonstrating thorough knowledge of BS7671:2018 and NICEIC requirements.
Essential
* Fully meets the requirements for the grade of Approved Electrician, as per JIB standards.
* Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience as an Approved Electrician.
* Experience in industrial and commercial electrical systems, including controls, instrumentation, inverters, and PLC I/O fault finding.
* Proven ability to carry out and supervise electrical installations to BS7671 and 18th Edition wiring regulations and demonstrates working knowledge of BS7671:2018 and familiarity with NICEIC requirements
* Full clean driving license
* ECS Gold Card
