The Governance Support and Development Service seeks a highly‑organised, self‑motivated Governance Support Officer to provide high‑quality clerking and advice services to schools and academies across the city and surrounding area.
Responsibilities
* Preparation of meeting agendas
* Taking and distribution of minutes
* Ongoing governance support
* Record keeping
* Provision of procedural and legislative advice to governors
* Additional ad hoc work supporting governors panels for exclusions and complaints on a claim basis
Qualifications
* Excellent organisational, communication and ICT skills
* Ability to take accurate minutes at meetings
* Ability to build effective professional relationships with senior leaders and volunteers
* Can‑do attitude and commitment to team working
Hours and Working Arrangements
Weekly hours will fluctuate depending on the meeting schedule of the schools supported and may include some evening work.
Hybrid working arrangements are available. Working arrangements will be determined based on role requirements and in collaboration with you; your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
Travel Requirements
Support is delivered within a 50‑mile radius of York, with occasional travel to East Riding and Hull. Applicants must have a full and current driving licence; full details will be discussed at interview.

Public Facing Requirement
Applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, achieving CEFR level C2 in spoken English.
