We are partnering with a progressive public sector organisation to appoint a Strategic HR Business Partner to join their HR & OD leadership team on a 3-month contract. This is a pivotal, senior role where you will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, driving people strategy, organisational transformation, and cultural change.
⚠️Please note: Recent Local Authority / Council experience is essential for this role.
As a key member of the HR & OD leadership team, you will:
* Partner with senior leaders as part of the Senior Management Team
* Shape and deliver strategic HR initiatives aligned to organisational goals
* Drive transformation, workforce planning, and organisational design
* Champion a high-performance, inclusive, and values-driven culture
* Influence decision-making through data, insight, and strategic expertise
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the development and implementation of people strategies that support long-term organisational performance and sustainability
* Drive organisational design, restructuring, and change management programmes
* Support talent, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives
* Champion employee engagement, inclusion, and continuous improvement
* Lead on complex employee relations matters, providing risk-based, commercially sound advice
* Utilise HR analytics and digital solutions to inform decision-making
* Build and maintain strong trade union relationships
* Contribute to transformation programmes and wider organisational change initiatives
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience as a Strategic HR Business Partner / Senior HRBP
* Recent experience within a Local Authority / Council (essential)
* Strong background in organisational design, transformation, and change management
* Expertise in complex employee relations and employment law
* Experience influencing senior stakeholders and operating at SMT level
* Data-driven approach with strong analytical capability
* Passion for driving culture, engagement, and organisational excellence
