A client within the Public Sector based in Leicestershire is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor to join their Responsive Repairs, Voids and Minor Works Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority housing environment.
The Role
The key purpose of the role is to act as a senior professional advisor, providing technical expertise across the council’s domestic housing portfolio. The Building Surveyor will lead on defect diagnosis, damp and mould eradication, and the delivery of housing repairs and refurbishment works.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Carrying out detailed defect diagnosis, scoping and reporting to resolve cases of damp, mould and disrepair.
• Managing stock condition surveys, asset registers and lifecycle cost plans for housing stock.
• Preparing designs, specifications, budgets, feasibility reports and contract documentation.
• Overseeing contractors, ensuring compliance with council policies, legislation, procurement rules and quality standards.
• Supporting the council’s zero-carbon roadmap and Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards compliance.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require a relevant degree (or equivalent vocational qualification) and demonstrable experience in building surveying within a housing environment.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong knowledge of building regulations, planning, CDM and housing compliance standards.
• Experience in project management, budget control and contractor management.
• Ability to carry out measured surveys, prepare specifications and provide technical advice.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £30 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £23 per hour PAYE).
