TPF Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a fast-growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Guildford that is looking to recruit an experienced Tax Manager to join its expanding team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a multi-office firm with a strong presence across the South East, offering a full suite of accountancy, tax and advisory services to a broad and diverse client base, including owner-managed businesses and private individuals.

The Role
As a Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a varied portfolio of clients, delivering both compliance and advisory services while also supporting the development of the wider tax team.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing a portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients, with a focus on owner-managed businesses
Delivering tax compliance work and handling client queries independently
Providing advisory services across areas such as inheritance tax, capital gains tax, estate planning and R&D claims
Preparing and reviewing tax computations and returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Reviewing work completed by junior team members and maintaining high technical standards
Managing and developing a team, including training, mentoring and workload planning
Overseeing deadlines, workflow and project delivery across the tax function
Liaising with senior leadership on client matters and technical issues
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and HMRC
Supporting business development activities and networking with new and existing clients
Managing budgets and multiple client projects effectively
RequirementsThe Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will likely have:
ATT qualified, ideally CTA qualified
Approximately 4–5 years’ experience within a tax role in an accountancy practice
Strong personal tax experience, with exposure to corporate tax and advisory work being advantageous
Excellent technical knowledge of current UK tax legislation
Proven experience reviewing work and managing or mentoring a team
Strong communication skills, with confidence dealing directly with clients and HMRC
Experience using tax and accountancy software, ideally IRIS or similar
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
