Apheresis Nurse Practitioner Band 7 – Clinical Haematology
We are seeking an experienced Band 7 Apheresis Nurse Practitioner to join our specialist in-house Haematology Apheresis team. As our service expands, we need someone with strong acute haematology expertise—across both malignant and benign specialties—to help us continue delivering exceptional care.

We run one of the largest blood and marrow transplant programmes in Europe, maintaining JACIE accreditation status.
2. Comprehensive Facilities:
Our unit includes 58 inpatient beds across three wards, dedicated outpatient and day care facilities, Apheresis services available 24/7.
3. Innovative Treatments:
We offer a wide range of therapeutic apheresis procedures, including leukodepletion, plasma exchange, and automated red cell exchanges (RCE) for sickle cell disease

Main duties of the job
8. Provide specialist Apheresis services, including therapeutic plasma exchange and red cell exchange.
9. Support the haematopoietic stem cell transplant programme through the collection and harvesting of cellular products.
10. Participate in the on-call provision and outreach TPE Neurology service.
11. Contribute to the growth and development of the therapeutic RCE programme.

Education/ qualifications
Essential criteria
12. NMC : First level registered nurse and active/valid registration
13. Haemato-oncology experience (to include HSCT)
14. Recognised post-registration training relevant to specialty – Apheresis certification
15. Evidence of ongoing professional development supporting NMC revalidation
16. Chemotherapy certification
17. Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
18. Preceptorship/Supervisory experience
19. Degree or diploma
Desirable criteria
20. Management certificate or equivalent experience
21. Masters Level study or willingness to undertake
Experience
Essential criteria
22. Experience as apheresis nurse Haematology/Cancer nursing background

24. Knowledge of quality, standard setting and audit
25. Expert in therapeutic application of apheresis procedures and as operator
26. Expert in IV administration and venous access care

28. IT Skills (Including proficiency with Microsoft Office Packages and accurate, fast typing skills)
29. Capable of working strategically (business planning, service improvements, strategies for infection control)
