Full Time or potential for 0.8. We wish to appoint an energetic, enthusiastic and inspiring Head of Music to lead our thriving department. The successful candidate will be well-qualified across all key stages, and have a genuine passion for music, while enjoying making a lively contribution to co-curricular activities.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all academic music staff and curricula, as well as co‑curricular/performance music within the Senior School, ensuring the offering is broad, ambitious, diverse and innovative.
* Share teaching across the school, including A Level, and work collaboratively with other performing‑arts disciplines.
* Lead a well‑established team of peripatetic musicians, delivering a wide range of individual and group tuition.
* Contribute to the broader school life by leading events such as formal concerts, informal recitals and external festivals, and support the drama department with musical‑production needs.
* Act as a confident pianist to accompany pupil performances and choral‑concert choir rehearsals, improvising to enhance pupils’ musical understanding.
* Act as a confident director of instrumental and vocal ensembles in rehearsals and performances.
Qualifications
* Well‑qualified across all key stages, with a track record of music leadership.
* Genuine passion for music and a strong commitment to co‑curricular engagement.
* Highly proficient pianist capable of accompaniment and improvisation.
* Experienced director of instrumental and vocal ensembles.
* Willingness to undergo child‑protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
