We’re working with a specialist school in Halifax that supports pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). They’re looking for a Behavioural Support Assistant, or a Teacher confident in de-escalation and trauma-informed practice, to make a difference where it really counts. The role includes: Supporting students with complex behavioural needs (often linked to trauma, autism, ADHD, or attachment difficulties) Helping to implement behaviour support plans and positive intervention strategies Building trust and consistency, being that steady adult pupils can rely on Working closely with pastoral staff, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver joined-up support Celebrating the small wins and modelling calm, respectful communication, even when things get tough What we are looking for: Experience in behavioural support, whether in a PRU, SEND school, youth work, similar role or personal experience A calm, confident presence and the ability to not take things personally Practical understanding of trauma-informed care, de-escalation, or Team Teach (training available) Flexibility, patience, and a firm-but-fair approach to behaviour management A genuine passion for helping pupils rebuild trust in school and in themselves A passion for inclusive education and a desire to make a positive impact A valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or willingness to obtain one What Protocol Education offers: Weekly pay through PAYE (no umbrella companies) FREE Thrive and de-escalation training via our CPD Academy A consultant who gets SEND and will advocate for the right fit Long-term roles in schools that understand the value of behaviour specialists Make an impact, not just a timetable.
