We seek a HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist with experience as an independent practitioner in Haematology & Transfusion Science, capable of performing analyses in Haematology Automation, Coagulation, Transfusion Science, and Reception Services. The role involves delivering a 24/7 laboratory service.
Applicants should have completed an IBMS-accredited biomedical sciences degree and be in a trainee BMS role or due to graduate this year. The position will initially be fixed-term, contingent upon completing the HCPC registration portfolio and achieving required competencies, with the possibility of converting to a permanent contract.
The interview will include a competency-based exercise, and in-person attendance is required.
Full-time: 37.5 hours/week

Post-Training Responsibilities
* Run daily test procedures, including calibration and quality control, and sign off for clinical use.
* Process urgent and routine work to meet turnaround times.
* Fault find equipment after training.
* Explain results and advise users, seeking advice when needed.
* Input and amend patient data and results.
* Work towards IBMS specialist portfolio in haematology and transfusion.
* Assist in training medical staff, clinical scientists, and students.
* Maintain ongoing competence through courses and CPD activities.
