CAMHS Art Therapist

As an HCPC registered Allied Health professional, reporting to the Getting Help Pathway Lead, you will develop and provide Art Therapy individually and line manage and clinically supervise trainees and junior members of staff as appropriate.
As part of the Getting Help pathway you will be working with children and young people with complex mental health needs, you will work as an integrated and collaborative team member upholding the Trust values, and maintaining a holistic approach to promote effective functioning of the team and patient-centred care of service users.
Please be aware this is a fixed term contract for maternity cover.
Main duties of the job
* To plan, provide and develop patient-centred Art Therapy including assessment, treatment and evaluation of individual and group work.
* Evaluate work on an ongoing basis with an emphasis on using appropriate service user reported experience and outcome measures to measure and demonstrate effectiveness.
* Plan and develop Art Therapy, including individual and group work in liaison the pathway lead and psychological therapy colleagues
* Assess referred service users, plan and deliver Art Therapy interventions, taking into account risk factors, and complexity of presentation, service user's need, and service priorities.
* Use own clinical skills to contribute to the overall treatment and personal recovery goals for the service user during and beyond Art Therapy input.
* Where required by the Multi-disciplinary team, facilitate reflective practice, joint assessments and joint working.
* Contribute own knowledge from assessment and treatment to the overall care plan for each service user through contribution to complex case meetings and multi-agency meetings as appropriate.
Qualifications
* Specialist Qualification in Art Psychotherapy.
* A qualification, or have undertaken a program of formal training in Clinical Supervision
* A professional Nursing qualification or Occupational Therapist qualification or Social Worker with current registration
Experience
* Demonstrable post qualification experience, including experience of working with young people with complex mental health problems and working with children and families in particular
* Managing and prioritising a complex caseload
* Experience of Multi-Disciplinary Working
* Currently engaged in an advanced level of practice and able to demonstrate a degree of professional autonomy
* The ability to provide patient centred assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation with children, young people, parents and families
* Ability to undertake Risk Assessments and identify appropriate plans in partnerships with the young person, families and other agencies
* Planning and delivering presentations and training to groups
* Experience in delivering comprehensive family work in a child and family setting
Knowledge
* Theoretical and practical knowledge in areas of child and adolescent mental health and good awareness of key drivers in the field
* Highly competent in making a decision regarding ongoing patient care based on clinical and risk factors
* High level of problem solving and planning skills
* Awareness of own competency level and how to seek appropriate help
* Understanding of confidentiality and risk management.
* Clinical audit, research and clinical governance principles
* Have a good understanding of child protection/safeguarding policies, recording and reporting any concerns to the appropriate agency including participation in case conferences as required.
* Wider NHS and social care policy
* Importance of public relations
* Research, audit and quality improvement methodologies
* Understanding of assessment of children suspected of having ADHD/ ASD.
