Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Wirral
Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience supporting young people in education?We're seeking a motivated and compassionate Psychology Graduate to join a supportive secondary school on the Wirral as a Teaching Assistant, working closely with students who may need additional academic, emotional, or behavioural support.
This role is ideal for graduates considering a future career in education, educational psychology, mental health, or youth work.
What you'll be doing:
* Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups across the classroom
* Assisting pupils with additional needs, including SEN, SEMH, and behavioural challenges
* Helping students stay engaged, regulated, and focused during lessons
* Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support learning and wellbeing
* Implementing strategies to support emotional regulation, confidence, and behaviour
* Building positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage progress
What we're looking for:
* A Psychology degree (or related subject)
* A genuine interest in child development, mental health, or special educational needs
* Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils (11-16)
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
* Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude
* Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)
