A Vacancy at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward thinking Specialist Dental Nurse to join the Dental Outreach Centre, based in Birmingham City Centre, as a Band 5 Radiography Specialist Dental Nurse. The post supports patient pathways and clinical excellence within a multi-disciplinary team delivering a variety of dental treatments under local anaesthetic.
The post is a Band 5 Radiography Specialist Dental Nurse role with 22.5 hours per week (0.6 WTE). Base: Dental Outreach Centre – Birmingham City Centre; flexible across the service as required. Hours: Monday to Saturday (8am – 8pm); working days to be determined.
Responsibilities
 * Provide high-quality clinical nursing support for the dental specialties across Dental Services Division clinical sites to respond to the complex needs of patients meeting the specialty criteria.
 * Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics and manage patients with complex dental, social and medical needs.
 * Stock control, rotation and ordering of dental consumables from appropriate suppliers.
 * Prepare and maintain specialised dental equipment and dispose of clinical waste including bodily fluids.
 * Support recording of patient pre-operative assessments (e.g., height, weight, blood pressure).
 * Carry out duties relevant to the role as specified by the Dental Nurse Manager and/or Dental Nurse Tutor(s).
 * Provide clinical nursing support for radiography within the department to support the clinical patient pathway.
 * Identify staff and students requiring additional training within the specialty and escalate as appropriate.
 * Support the School of Dental Nursing, University of Birmingham, School of Hygiene and Therapy and relevant Heads of Service to provide team training for all disciplines.
 * Adhere to procedures to support and maintain national targets of compliance; implement local divisional and Trust policies.
 * Contribute to Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement related to the specialty.
Qualifications
 * Dental Radiography Certificate (essential).
 * Up-to-date IRMER training.
 * Ability to supply a copy of the CPD log relating to the specialty.
