We are an established, independent, family-run UK business with over 40 years’ experience operating landfill, recycling, power generation aggregates supply, waste management and civil works.
Our site is a large, multi-use operational environment combining heavy industrial waste operations with farm shop and wider estate activities. We pride ourselves on strong operational standards, regulatory compliance and a practical, no-nonsense approach to safety.
The Role
We are looking for a hands‑on Health & Safety Manager to lead H&S across our landfill operations, farm shop and wider estate.
This is a highly visible, site‑based role where you’ll work closely with operational teams, supervisors and contractors to make safety part of everyday operations - not just paperwork.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring we remain fully compliant with UK legislation and ready for HSE and regulatory inspections at all times.
What You’ll Be Doing
* ✔ Leading day‑to‑day health & safety across landfill and estate operations
* ✔ Acting as main contact for HSE inspections and regulatory visits
* ✔ Maintaining and improving our ISO 9001, 14001 & ISO 45001 aligned management systems
* ✔ Supporting safe operations involving heavy plant, waste operations and high‑risk activities
* ✔ Managing contractor H&S from pre‑qualification through to site delivery
* ✔ Leading incident investigations and driving real operational improvements
* ✔ Supporting H&S across public‑facing areas including farm shop and estate facilities
* ✔ Delivering toolbox talks, training support and workforce engagement
What We’re Looking For
* ✅ Experience in H&S within heavy industry (waste, landfill, quarrying, construction or similar)
* ✅ Experience working on live operational sites with plant and vehicle risks
* ✅ Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation
* ✅ Confident dealing with regulators and inspections
* ✅ Practical, site‑focused approach — someone who can influence operators and managers alike
Qualifications
* NEBOSH Diploma (Desirable or working towards)
* ISO 9001, 14001 & ISO 45001 Experience (Essential)
What You’ll Get
* Company pension
* 20 days holiday + bank holidays
* Professional memberships and training support
* Long‑term career stability within an established family business
Why Join Us?
You’ll be joining a business where safety is taken seriously, decisions are made quickly, and you can have real influence across operations - not just maintain systems.
