Overview
As Tokamak Energy evolves, we need our working model to align with our strategy and priorities. Following our $52 million upgrade of the ST40 spherical tokamak, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy and the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, we are seeking a Project Engineer. This role involves coordinating and delivering projects to enhance diagnostic capabilities on the ST40 tokamak, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget targets are met, and maintaining stakeholder alignment.
Responsibilities
1. Define project scope, requirements, and deliverables; track progress.
2. Manage project plans, milestones, and resource allocation to meet quality, time, and cost objectives, collaborating with the Project Leader.
3. Establish and maintain project documentation per management processes (requirements, plans, finances, risk register, change management).
4. Coordinate daily activities, resources (CAD, controls, technicians), BoM, work instructions, and H&S assessments.
5. Support the Technical Lead in guiding project teams to deliver objectives.
6. Manage interfaces between diagnostic and other projects, tracking progress across domains.
7. Conduct project reviews, escalate issues, and distribute notes and actions.
8. Monitor performance, implement corrective actions as needed.
9. Identify and mitigate project risks; manage changes in scope, cost, or schedule.
10. Capture and share lessons learned.
11. Promote safe working practices.
12. Coordinate with Quality and Programme Management teams to align processes.
13. Prepare, submit, and present project status reports.
Desired Skills and Attributes
* Degree and experience in a relevant technical field.
* Experience with designing, building, integrating, and commissioning tokamak diagnostic systems.
* Proven track record in delivering complex tokamak diagnostic projects.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Project and/or agile tools like Redmine.
* Knowledge of engineering design and software development processes.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Ability to clearly convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Collaborative approach with cross-functional teams.
* Positive, energetic, and results-oriented attitude.
