The Role
We seek a hands-on, motivated Ecologist to join a well-established consultancy team, working a remote first role. The successful candidate will carry out diverse ecological field surveys, prepare technical reports, contribute expertise to multi-disciplinary projects, and ensure work meets statutory requirements and the latest industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake ecological field surveys (habitat assessments, protected species, site appraisals)
* Analyse data and produce clear, high-quality technical reports, maps, and graphics
* Advise clients and project teams on ecological impacts, mitigation, and biodiversity net gain
* Engage with clients, statutory bodies, and wider project stakeholders to communicate findings
* Ensure compliance with health & safety and best practice on site and in reporting
* Support the delivery of concurrent projects, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards
Essential Skills & Experience
* Degree in ecology, environmental science, or a closely related subject
* Experience preparing UKHAB reports and conducting UK ecological surveys
* Excellent communication and report writing skills
* Collaborative approach, strong analytical ability, attention to detail
* Up-to-date knowledge of UK and European wildlife legislation
Desirable
* Chartered body membership (e.g. CIEEM) or working towards it
* Protected species survey licences
* Familiarity with GIS and digital mapping
* Experience supporting planning applications, ES chapters, and biodiversity net gain
