A vibrant secondary school in the heart of Newham is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Geography Teacher from September to take on a full-time, long-term role. The school prides itself on fostering curiosity, global awareness, and critical thinking—qualities they expect their Geography department to promote in every lesson.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed teacher with a passion for physical and human geography who can bring maps, data, and real-world issues to life. You’ll be teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the chance to teach A-Level for the right candidate.
What You'll Be Doing:
Delivering engaging and interactive Geography lessons tailored to a diverse student body
Building pupils' understanding of local and global issues—from climate change to urbanisation
Preparing students for GCSE assessments in line with national curriculum and exam board expectations
Encouraging the development of skills such as fieldwork, data analysis, and geographical enquiry
Using up-to-date case studies and resources to connect geography with students’ lived experiences
Supporting the wider Humanities faculty and contributing to school life through events, trips, or clubs
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching Geography at secondary level in the UK
Up-to-date knowledge of the current curriculum and assessment practices
An ability to differentiate and engage learners of all abilities
Strong classroom presence with clear behaviour management strategies
Passionate about geography and keen to promote environmental and social awareness
