Job Title: Head of Safety, Health & EnvironmentSalary: £61,415 per annum dependant on experience & skillsClosing Date: 2026-01-12About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Head of Safety, Health & Environment to lead and oversee health, safety, and wellbeing across our group. This pivotal role will ensure compliance with statutory requirements, implement best practices, and foster a positive safety culture across the Group.You will also manage a small team of health & safety professionals, providing leadership, support, and development opportunities.You will work closely with senior leadership, managers, and staff to provide expert guidance, develop policies and procedures, and deliver training to ensure a safe and secure learning and working environment.*Please note the salary includes a £3,000 per annum market supplementInterviews will be held in January 2026.What You Will DoLead and manage the health & safety and fire safety function across all Group members, including a small team of H&S professionals.Develop, implement, and monitor health & safety policies, procedures, and initiatives.Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.Provide expert advice to senior leaders and managers on health & safety matters.Maintain and review incident management and business continuity plans in coordination with senior leaders, external agencies and stakeholders.Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections across campuses.Deliver training and awareness programs to staff and students.Promote a positive health, safety, and wellbeing culture throughout the Group.About YouExtensive experience in health & safety and fire safety management, ideally within a multi-site organisation.Strong knowledge of current health & safety legislation and best practices.Experience in incident management and knowledge of business continuity planningExcellent communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to influence, advise, and engage with stakeholders at all levels.A degree in a relevant subject area & professional health & safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) Proven leadership skills, including experience managing a small team.To find out more about the role or to have an informal chat please contact Tom Stevens (Group Director of Estates) on tom.stevens@luminate.ac.uk BenefitsThe group offers a range of excellent benefits, including:Annual leave: Curriculum and Management: 44 days plus bank holidaysCurriculum support and business support: 39 days plus bank holidaysPension schemes with generous employer contributions:Teachers’ Pension SchemeLocal Government Pension SchemePeople’s Pension SchemeCPD opportunities:Annual staff conference plus 2 additional staff development days.Qualifications including PGCE, Apprenticeships, Leadership and Management courses.Employee wellbeing initiatives: Family Friendly Policies, discounted onsite spa (Printworks) and gym (Park Lane).Travel and commuting: Discounted travel available through Metro card, Northern Rail, First Bus, Arriva Bus and Cycle to work schemes.Flexible and hybrid working opportunities: Please speak to the recruiting manager regarding flexible opportunities as these differ between roles.About UsLuminate Education Group is a collective of education providers based in Yorkshire with one clear purpose: to make a positive difference to people’s lives through genuinely transformative education and training.We offer a wide range of job vacancies across our business support functions - Finance, Human Resources, ITSS, Marketing, Communications, Executive Support, Estates and Food Services.
