Offer description

We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and self-directed Project Manager to support Cambridge's contribution to the Hong Kong Jockey Club Global Health Institute, an international partnership between the International Vaccine Institute, the University of Cambridge and the University of Hong Kong. Established in March 2024, with the generous support of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Institute aims to enhance global preparedness for future pandemics by advancing vaccine research, development, and implementation.

The Project Manager will work closely with the Hong Kong Jockey Club Professor of Global Health and co-Director of GHI, Prof. Ravi Gupta, to deliver Cambridge's contribution to the GHI. Providing project management and strategic support you will assist in ensuring that project deliverables are achieved in a timely and efficient manner. This will include supporting other researchers in Cambridge involved in delivering GHI research, coordinating with partners in Hong Kong to establish Cambridge research labs in Hong Kong, and preparing regular finance and progress reports to support the governance requirements of the funder. This is an exciting opportunity for someone keen to become involved in an exciting international collaboration in the early stages of its establishment.

Who you'll be working with

The role is based in the Department of Medicine, based in the group of Prof. Ravi Gupta at the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology & Infectious Disease (CITIID). In addition to working with Prof. Gupta you will support several other principal investigators within CITIID who are also undertaking research as part of GHI. You will also develop strong relationships with partners at the University of Hong Kong and the International Vaccine Institute. Given the nature of the collaboration, travel to Hong Kong to support the Professor of Global Health, and other Cambridge PIs with research projects based at HKU, may be required.

What experience you will have: - An MSc. or equivalent qualification in a biological science. - A PhD is desirable but not required. - Strong project management skills, ideally in scientific research or within a university or similar academic environment. - Scientific lab experience and understanding of research governance principles would be advantageous. - You will be able to communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders and using a variety of mediums. - Familiarity with or an understanding of the academic and business culture in Hong Kong/China would be very helpful.

More information about the role is attached in the 'Further Particulars' document.

Fixed Term: The funds for this position are available for one year in the first instance. Dependent on funding, there may be possibility to extend the post for a further three years.

The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society.

The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
