Job Description
Climate17 is working with the UK’s leading generator of low-carbon power from captured methane. Their expertise includes solar power and battery energy storage (BESS) technology.
They are seeking a Project Manager responsible for the development, pre-construction, and construction phases of large-scale ground-mounted solar and BESS projects in Swansea, from inception to delivery.
Key responsibilities include interpreting civil and electrical drawings, overseeing contracting, construction, commissioning, and delivery, conducting on-site quality checks, and ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards. You will manage risks, budgets, and project documentation, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
* Support procurement of equipment considering construction requirements
* Assist in planning phase preparations and negotiations
* Negotiate contracts, ensuring clear scopes of work and schedules
* Coordinate pre-construction activities with civils and electrical contractors
* Obtain necessary construction-specific regulatory consents
* Manage contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams during construction and commissioning
* Ensure HS&E compliance, including CDM Regulations and quality standards
* Verify all construction insurance and licenses are in place
* Identify and mitigate project risks
* Administer construction contracts and consultancy agreements
* Coordinate key milestones such as energisation, contractual handover, and internal transfer to Asset Management
* Provide DSEAR files, handover documentation, and training for operation and management
* Monitor and report on supplier performance during and after construction
* Prepare budget variances, cost forecasts, and project completion estimates
Requirements
* Proven project management experience with utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects
* Strong skills in coordinating multiple tasks effectively
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, with technical and non-technical audiences
* Deep understanding of industry regulations, standards, and grid connection practices
* Solution-focused, able to work under pressure and handle complex issues independently
Location: Swansea area, with 2-4 days on-site per week
