About The Role
General Operative – Substations.
Join our Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) team supporting projects that build and maintain high‑voltage transmission infrastructure across the UK, with a focus on yards, stores and materials management in a live project environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Drive HGV and perform all associated duties.
* Act as Stores Person responsible for all duties.
* Coordinate plant and stock, ensuring accurate administration and stock management.
* Liaise with operational staff to arrange and provide needed materials.
* Unload and load delivery vehicles.
* Check deliveries against advice notes for quality, quantity and damage.
* Hire, accept and off‑hire plant and equipment.
* Manage calibration of tools and equipment (including lifting).
* Secure the yard, ensuring access is only permitted to authorised personnel.
* Maintain tidy yard(s) and store.
* Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and of others affected by your actions.
* Cooperate with BB in all health and safety matters to support the company’s legal duties.
* Do not mis‑use or interfere with safety‑critical items or procedures without the required training, certificates or competence.
* Report any safety concerns to your manager.
* Do not undertake any safety‑critical work unless you hold the appropriate Certificate of Competence or Authority to Work and are properly trained; do not instruct others without such credentials.
Who We’re Looking For
The Following Qualities/Experience Are Essential
* Full clean driving licence.
* Ability to work in a team.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to undertake work in high‑pressure situations.
The Following Qualities/Experience Are Desirable
* Experience on a variety of construction project types.
* Knowledge of the power industry.
* Valid telehandler licence.
* OHL authorisations.
* Emergency First Aid at Work certification.
