Ocean Infinity is seeking an ambitious, collaborative and innovative Lead Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will join the Geotechnical - Service Delivery Team and be responsible for the technical management of offshore geotechnical site investigations including supervision of extensive onshore laboratory testing campaigns and subsequent geotechnical/site characterisation reporting.
You will be integral in mentoring and developing a talented team, collaborating across departments, and working closely with our group Geotechnical Laboratory and Geoconsulting teams driving project success. With a focus on innovation and transformation, you will innovate and develop initiatives to enhance workflows, data analysis and quality of deliverables, contributing to the successful delivery, operation and evolution of market-leading geotechnical site investigation services.
What Will You Do
* Geotechnical Lead: Lead the technical delivery of offshore geotechnical campaigns, as a key member of the onshore geotechnical team, including multi-vessel solutions and a range of seafloor and drilling equipment to meet project and client specifications;
* Data Delivery and Quality Assurance: Ensure the creation of robust, accurate, and timely geotechnical deliverables, adhering to relevant international standards and in-house procedures. Review and approve all geotechnical-data and associated deliverables generated during a geotechnical campaign;
* Technical Project Management: Technically manage a portfolio of geotechnical projects, ensuring compliance with appropriate standards and client specifications within project timelines, as part of a wider Project Team led by the Project Manager;
* Client and Team Collaboration: Liaise and communicate clearly with both Ocean Infinity's and our Client's project teams to ensure informed and appropriate site-investigation technical decisions are made, and that project requirements are met;
* Laboratory Testing and Oversight: Develop and manage project-specific laboratory test schedules and specifications, ensuring accurate data interpretation and integration into deliverables.
* Team Leadership and Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior geotechnical team members, fostering knowledge sharing and professional development within the Geotechnical Team and broader geoscience group;
* Innovation and Process Improvement: Drive forward-thinking initiatives ejecting geotechnical innovations to enhance workflows, data analysis, and deliverable quality, positioning Ocean Infinity as a leader in offshore geotechnical services;
* Continuous Improvement: Review and refine geotechnical data processing and reporting procedures to maintain operational excellence and industry leadership;
* Technical Support: Collaborate with the Technical Asset Team, Operations Team, and Commercial Team to provide geotechnical expertise for equipment, procedures, and tender proposals;
* HSE Compliance: Adhere to Ocean Infinity's management system policies, ensuring health, safety, and environmental standards are met during offshore operations.
Who You Are
* Education: Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline.
* Experience: At least 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong focus on offshore geotechnical data acquisition and delivery within the offshore energy sector.
* Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of offshore geotechnical methods, including but not limited to Cone Penetration Testing (CPT), borehole sampling, and geophysical survey techniques.
* Leadership: Proven experience in leading and mentoring junior team members, with a collaborative and supportive approach. Publish leading peer-reviewed technical papers and represent Ocean Infinity at respected international conferences
* Innovation: Creative and proactive problem-solving skills, with a passion for improving workflows and data quality.
* Time Management: Excellent organisational skills, capable of prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment.
* Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to clients and stakeholders.
* Critical Thinking: Thoughtful, thorough, and proactive approach to decision-making and project execution.
* Values: Enthusiasm for protecting people and the planet, with a commitment to safety and sustainability.
Desirable
* Experience in geotechnical analysis, cable installation and burial assessment, foundation design, or foundation installation assessments.
* Familiarity with coding in Python and/or MATLAB for data processing or analysis.
* Basic understanding of artificial intelligence algorithms for geotechnical applications.
