The job itself
Contract type: Casual hours (as and when required with agreement) - term time only.
Between 8.45 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Monday to Friday - (hours dependent on exam session).
Beverley Grammar School is a popular 11-18 boys' comprehensive with a Joint Sixth form with the neighbouring girls' school. We focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, increased student attainment and achievement, and social and emotional development for all our students.
We are seeking to recruit Invigilators to join our existing friendly team, ideally with some experience of working in secondary schools and/or exam invigilation but we would consider candidates with no previous experience of working within schools. The ideal candidates will have integrity and a willingness and aptitude to undertake training in Prevent, safeguarding and exam invigilation.
The role will be on a casual basis to assist with examination supervision throughout the year. The number of days and hours worked will vary depending on demand and season. This role would suit someone who has good availability during May, June and July (morning and/or afternoon sessions). The school will also require invigilators for exam series in November, December and January. If you're organised, dependable, and ready to support our school during one of its busiest times of year, we would love to hear from you!
Main duties:
1. Prepare exam hall; set out name cards, exam papers and arrange tables (as and when necessary), according to the seating plan provided by the Exams Officer.
2. Ensure exam information is easily visible to all candidates.
3. Time each exam to ensure candidates receive allotted time to complete exam
4. Prepare students for entry to the exam hall; monitor storage and collection of personal belongings, including collection of electronic devices.
5. Ensure candidates enter the exam room silently and assist them in finding their seats; quickly and calmly.
6. Deal sensitively with candidates who have special arrangements.
7. Maintain logs for late / absent candidates and any incidents occurring in the exam hall.
8. Provide spare stationary / continuation papers as and when necessary.
9. Constantly supervise candidates and watch for any inappropriate behaviour.
10. Collect and sort exam papers and candidate cards at the end of the exam.
