Job Description
The company: One of my very good clients in Edinburgh is now looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Edinburgh and work on a variety of projects within the field of Building Services. They are expanding their team as they are very busy picking new projects. If you have a background in the MEP sector and wish to progress, please apply for the role in Edinburgh.
The role requires: A good understanding of engineering and design practices relevant to the electrical discipline. The holder must demonstrate excellent 2D & 3D CAD skills, as well as good written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Preparation and production of CAD 3D routed system models including cable containment (Ladder / Tray / Basket), penetrations, and cableway supports in line with ISO and industry standards, specifications, and project policies, meeting time, cost, and quality requirements.
2. Preparation of 2D electrical installation and fabrication drawings from the 3D model, including cable containment installation drawings, penetration installation drawings, and material schedules, adhering to recognized standards and project requirements.
3. Liaising with engineering colleagues and stakeholders during the detail design phase to ensure coordination and functionality through spatial and design reviews.
4. Developing innovative design solutions and providing solutions to manufacturing and installation issues by assisting in resolving technical and production queries.
5. Reporting technical progress and issues to line management.
6. Ensuring safety, health, and environmental requirements are implemented.
7. Assisting with ship surveys for validation of existing system drawings.
Qualifications: The post holder should hold an HND/HNC or an equivalent qualification in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Building Services Degree Apprenticeship, or relevant industry experience.
