Overview
We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Sports Coaching and Play Workers to join our after-school and holiday club team. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire children through fun, active, and creative sessions in a safe and supportive environment. The ideal candidates will have a passion for working with children, bringing energy and imagination to every session to help children learn new skills, build confidence, and have fun.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and engage with children during after-school and holiday club sessions, ensuring their safety, well-being, and enjoyment at all times.
* Plan and deliver a range of sports, games, and play-based activities that promote teamwork, creativity, and physical fitness.
* Create an inclusive, positive, and encouraging atmosphere where all children feel welcome and valued.
* Promote and model positive behaviour, respect, and cooperation among children.
* Set up, maintain, and tidy away sports and play equipment, ensuring all materials are safe, clean, and well organised.
* Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and colleagues, providing updates on children's participation, achievements, and any concerns.
* Support the wider team in ensuring the smooth running of sessions and contribute to new ideas for improving activities and programmes.
* Take part in regular training and development, particularly in sports coaching, playwork, and safeguarding.
Requirements
* Some experience working with children in after-school clubs (Primary School), holiday camps, or educational/play settings is preferred.
* Skills or qualifications in sports coaching, playwork, or childcare are highly desirable.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with children and adults alike.
* A proactive, flexible, and energetic approach to leading fun and engaging activities.
* The ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in all situations.
* A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* Relevant qualifications in childcare, education, or sports coaching are an advantage but not essential.
