Your new roleAs a Principal Arboricultural Consultant, you will join a well‑established and highly regarded arboricultural team working on a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK. You’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality arboricultural advice to a wide range of clients, contributing toplex, innovative and nationally significant schemes. The team is known for its collaborative and supportive ethos, with a shared passion for trees and sustainable land use.
Your role will involve leading BS5837:2012 surveys and reports, undertaking tree hazard and risk assessments (such as PTI and QTRA), and providing technical oversight and quality assurance across projects. You will also support the growth of the arboricultural service line by helping to develop client relationships, contributing to bids and proposals, and mentoring less experienced consultants. Working closely with multi‑disciplinary colleagues, you’ll help deliver integrated solutions that balance development needs with environmental protection.
What you’ll need to succeed
1. A minimum Level 3 qualification in arboriculture (or equivalent practical experience), ideally level 4 and above.
2. Significant experience working in an arboricultural consultancy environment at a senior or principal level.
3. Proven experience undertaking BS5837:2012 surveys, reports and VTA within a consultancy ormercial setting
4. Experience of tree risk assessment, with training in a recognised methodology ( PTI, QTRA, VALID or TRAQ)
5. Strong written and verbalmunication skills, with confidence engaging clients and project teams
6. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site as required
7. Working knowledge of GIS and/or CAD software for producing arboricultural plans
8. Experience mentoring or supporting junior consultants.
9. A full, clean UK driving licence is essential due to site travel requirements.
