This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead JobSmart, a well-established adult training centre within the Inspire Education Group. JobSmart supports local residents to upskill, retrain and progress into employment through high-quality accredited and non-accredited provision.
As JobSmart Centre Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Faculty – Adults, ESOL and Digital Skills to shape both the strategic direction and day‑to‑day operations of the centre. You will play a pivotal role in expanding the JobSmart offer, driving growth and profitability, strengthening employer relationships, and ensuring an outstanding experience for learners and partners.
The role: You will provide inspirational leadership to the JobSmart team while maintaining a strong commercial and quality focus. This role combines strategic planning, operational management, quality assurance and people leadership, with a clear emphasis on customer service, employer engagement and sustainable growth.
Key responsibilities
Strategic leadership
* Lead and inspire the JobSmart team, ensuring staff are supported, developed and motivated
* Achieve agreed KPIs, enrolment targets and growth objectives
* Develop curriculum plans and financial forecasts
* Ensure new and re‑formed qualifications are fit for purpose and meet market need
* Work with marketing colleagues to deliver an effective engagement and growth plan
* Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, awarding bodies and key stakeholders
* Lead preparation for Ofsted and other inspections, including SAR and QIP development
Operational management
* Manage staffing, timetabling and resource allocation to maximise efficiency
* Oversee learner registration, certification and programme delivery
* Monitor performance against recruitment, attendance, retention and achievement targets
* Lead team meetings and ensure actions are implemented
* Prepare reports and performance updates for senior leaders
* Support growth bids and income diversification opportunities
Quality and compliance
* Ensure consistently high standards of teaching, learning and assessment
* Lead internal verification processes in line with awarding body requirements
* Embed quality assurance and continuous improvement practices
* Identify and implement appropriate CPD for staff
People management and customer focus
* Manage recruitment, induction, appraisal and performance processes
* Promote a positive, customer‑focused culture for learners and employers
* Ensure safeguarding, Prevent, GDPR and Health & Safety requirements are met
* Handle complaints professionally and maintain high standards of service
What we're looking for
* A full teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET, DTTLS)
* Relevant vocational or professional qualifications (minimum Level 3/4)
* Proven experience in a leadership or management role
* Strong understanding of adult skills, employability and employer‑led provision
* Experience of curriculum planning, quality assurance and inspection processes
* Financial and commercial awareness, including budget and resource management
* Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills
* A collaborative, proactive leadership style
Management qualifications and internal verification experience are desirable.
