Consultant in Cardiology
Applications are invited for the Consultant in Cardiology post. This post is within the Cardiology Department - Acute and Emergency Medicine (AEM) care group of the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro.
We are currently a team of 11 full‑time Cardiologists, 1 part‑time substantive consultant and 2 NHS Fixed Term Locums, and we aim to employ 2 further substantive Cardiologists to reach 15 full‑time Consultants delivering the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Cardiology service.
What You Will Do
* Support the delivery of non‑interventional Cardiology services, specifically Cardiac Imaging, Inherited Cardiac Conditions, Heart Failure and devices.
* Take part in the General Cardiology service on the wards and in out‑patients.
* Manage the clinical care of all patients on the CCU, CIU and Cardiology patients on Roskear ward.
* Participate in weekend ward rounds, reviews of acute referrals and Cath Lab sessions and/or outpatient clinics as required.
Requirements
* Be listed on the GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of the expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.
* Confirm registration status via gmc-uk.org/doctors/ before applying.
* Have broad training in all aspects of Cardiology.
Employment Conditions
* Permanent consultant post.
* Support and training will be available through the University of Exeter Medical School.
* The position may be taken up by candidates unable to work full time or wishing to job‑share; total contract up to 12 PA.
* Must hold a valid UK driving licence, have access to transport and be able to travel within and outside the county at short notice when required.
