Overview

Join to apply for the Learning Programmes Officer role at Nottingham City Council.

The post is a permanent, full-time position with hybrid working. Working hours are 37 hours per week with evenings and weekend working to meet the needs of the role.

Location: Primarily based at Communities Courtyard in Wollaton, but operates across Museum service sites including Wollaton Hall, Newstead Abbey, Nottingham Castle, and others. Regular attendance onsite is mandatory within service guidelines.

Salary: Starting Salary is Grade F £32,597 (Level one) rising to £35,412 at point 4 per annum (pro-rata for part-time).

About the Role

We are seeking a creative and experienced professional with a strong track record in developing and delivering engaging learning programmes across diverse subjects and locations. As Learning Officer, you will report to the Audience Engagement Officer and work closely with museum staff and freelancers to design, develop, and deliver an outstanding learning offer across our sites, exhibitions, collections, and subject areas.

The Learning Officer is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and administration of a wide range of learning opportunities, including facilitated onsite sessions, educational events, and our artefact loans service, Access Artefacts. This role plays a vital part in advancing Nottingham City Museums’ goals around widening participation, audience development, and schools’ engagement. As a member of a small, but active team, you will lead on aspects of the history curriculum offer for the learning programme and support other team members and colleagues for delivery across sites.


About You

The ideal candidate will have:

* Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet and email, and digital imaging software. Ability to produce presentations, letters, educational resources, reports, and spreadsheets to a high standard.
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience of working within formal learning and schools’ engagement, specifically in the heritage or cultural sector.
* Experience of creatively delivering learning programmes in a historic environment (museum, gallery, cultural venue or with special collections) that support National Curriculum objectives.
* Interest or experience of early years development or delivery would be an advantage.
* Proven experience of working collaboratively with internal colleagues and external partners or agencies to deliver shared outcomes.

The role requires you to participate in a weekend duty management support capacity as part of a service rota. This post is covered by the Immigration Act (2016) English Language Requirement for public sector workers; fluent English is an essential requirement for the role.
