Supervisor (Highways)

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Supervisor (Highways) to join our team.
This is a key frontline role, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of highways services across capital works, routine maintenance, winter maintenance, and emergency response. You will lead operational teams, promote safe working practices, and ensure works are delivered to the required standards.
Working closely with managers and departments across the business, you will also take an active role in workforce development, asset management, and promoting a culture of responsibility, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure all operations are carried out safely, promoting a positive health & safety culture for staff, contractors, and the public.
* Take frontline responsibility for service delivery of capital works, routine maintenance, winter maintenance, and emergency response (including standby duties).
* Supervise operational teams to meet productivity and quality targets.
* Produce accurate weekly costs and valuations using bespoke software.
* Monitor team skills and experience, supporting the Area Manager in planning training and development needs.
* Apply working knowledge of CDM regulations to ensure compliance across operations.
* Collaborate with the Plant and Fleet Department to optimise vehicle and equipment usage, minimise damage incidents, and promote asset care.
* Actively foster a positive, motivated team culture.
* Drive effective use of bespoke software to support operational delivery.
About You:
* Hold a SSSTS Card or SMSTS Card.
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety and CDM regulations.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* Ability to motivate teams and encourage continuous improvement.
* IT-literate with experience using management or operational software.
* A proactive problem solver with a focus on safe, high-quality service delivery.
* HGV Licence.
