Adult Social Care has an exciting opportunity for a full-time (37 hours) Deputy Social Care Manager to join our Hospital Discharge and Assessment Team (HDAT), leading practice in a fast-paced service shaped by hospital discharge and Discharge to Assess (D2A) policy and practice. About the Role: Reporting to the Assistant Head of Service – Out of Hospital Pathways, the Deputy Social Care Manager (DSCM) plays a key role in leading high-quality social work practice within the Hospital Discharge and Assessment Team (HDAT), a fast-paced service shaped by hospital discharge and Discharge to Assess (D2A) policy and practice. You will ensure the team’s values are translated into strong, person-centred outcomes through effective supervision, balanced workload management, quality assurance, and the efficient deployment of budget, staff, and wider resources. This is a varied and rewarding opportunity within an established, supportive, and highly committed team. You will be part of a strong management structure that includes a Head of Service, Deputy Social Care Managers, Social Work Leads, and a Social Care Lead, alongside experienced Senior Social Workers, Social Workers, Adult Social Care Practitioners, Care Navigators and a dedicated administration team. About You: We are looking for a confident and collaborative leader with experience of line management in a multi-disciplinary environment. The ideal candidate will bring: Substantial experience of working with vulnerable adults or evidence of transferable experience in a statutory health or adult social care setting Effective leadership, providing support and modelling engagement in the most challenging of circumstances, including with partner agencies, stakeholders and other professionals Experience in undertaking line management duties, including appraisal and formal performance management of staff Experience of financial decision making in the context of managing allocated team budgets Significant up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and procedures, including hospital discharge and Discharge to Assess (D2A) policy and practice You will bring credible, inspiring leadership and the ability to build strong relationships internally, externally, and politically.
