About the Role
Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering, West of Scotland, Balfour Beatty.
Deliver major infrastructure across the West of Scotland by managing all costs and income associated with your section of works in our civil engineering portfolio. You will collaborate with the wider project team, subcontractors and customers to ensure commercial excellence, value for money and strong governance.
Part of your role will involve providing guidance to junior members of the commercial team while continuing to develop your own professional expertise.
Key Responsibilities
* Measure, record and value work in accordance with relevant rules and procedures.
* Prepare cost reconciliation statements, Bills of Quantities and schedules of rates.
* Build up estimates from first principles (net and gross).
* Review and interpret drawings, specifications and works information.
* Collate cost and value data and contribute to monthly reporting.
* Understand customer contracts and manage stakeholders for your area.
* Support the management of delay and disruption assessments.
* Collect and organise procurement information.
* Prepare, manage and adjudicate subcontract enquiries.
* Record and document procurement activities to required standards.
* Apply the company’s governance requirements (BMS & GMCEs).
* Use ERP and digital systems to manage data, costs and progress.
Qualifications
* BSc / MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience).
* Experience in civil engineering projects.
* CSCS card (AQP/PQP).
* Chartered or working towards MRICS / MCInstCES / MCIOB.
* Strong analytical, organisational and commercial awareness.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.
