Seasonal Garden Centre Assistant
April 1st – August 31st
We're a small, family-run garden centre looking for a friendly and reliable Seasonal Garden Centre Assistant to join us for our busy spring and summer season. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has an interest in plants, and is happy chatting to customers.
Hours & Pay
* 18 paid hours per week
* Working days: Thursday, Friday & Saturday
* Hours: 10am–5pm
* Each shift is 7 hours and includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch break
* Pay: £12.80 per hour
What the Job Involves
* Caring for plants, including watering, weeding, pruning, and moving stock
* Unpacking deliveries of plants and other goods and putting them out for sale
* Serving customers, using the till, and answering general questions
* Keeping the garden centre tidy (sweeping, raking, general upkeep)
* Helping with basic repairs and maintenance
* Assisting the delivery driver on delivery rounds (manual handling involved)
* Loading and carrying items, including helping customers load purchases into their cars
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Some horticultural knowledge or experience (at least 1 year working in horticulture/gardening, a keen hobbyist, or a relevant qualification)
* Happy with physical work and working outdoors in all weathers
* Confident, friendly, and able to work on your own initiative
* Reliable, punctual, and communicative
Desirable (but not essential):
* Retail or customer service experience (full till training will be given)
* Some DIY or practical maintenance knowledge
