Performance is central to school culture, with regular concerts, theatrical productions, showcases, and community events forming a key part of the school calendar. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to ensure that all productions, rehearsals, and performances are delivered to a professional standard. The Role Managing lighting, sound, and AV systems for rehearsals, performances, and assemblies Supporting rehearsals, technical run-throughs, and full-scale productions Maintaining theatre, rehearsal, and performance spaces to a high standard Assisting with concerts, showcases, whole-school productions, and special events Managing props, costumes, staging materials, and storage systems Supporting GCSE and A Level practical assessments and technical requirements Conducting routine safety checks and maintaining compliance documentation Supporting set construction, stage design, and technical planning Liaising with external contractors or visiting production teams when required Ensuring all equipment is safely maintained, stored, and logged The Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience in stage management, theatre production, or technical performing arts support Knowledge of lighting rigs, sound systems, and AV equipment Strong organisational skills and attention to detail The ability to work flexibly around rehearsal and performance schedules Confidence supporting large-scale productions and live events A calm, professional, and solutions-focused approach A commitment to maintaining high safety standards Salary Competitive salary (dependent on experience) Application To apply for this Performing Arts Technician position in Reading, please submit your CV outlining your technical theatre or performing arts experience.
