We are looking for an experienced Specialty Co Ordinator to join our Neurology Team at St Richard's Hospital on a 2 year fixed term full time contract.

If you are a highly effective coordinator with excellent organisational skills, this is an exciting opportunity to join the Neurology Team as a Speciality Co-ordinator supporting the clinical team.
We are seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join the team on a full time.
Previous secretarial/administration experience is essential and knowledge of medical terminology is desirable. The role is varied with close working with the clinical team and regular telephone contact with patients.
Main duties of the job
To manage a full administrative service for the Consultants and clinical staff and provide an efficient and effective secretarial service. To act as first point of contact for our clinical teams and patients. To monitor the utilisation of clinic slots, taking an overview of the co-ordination of outpatient activity. To answer queries and communicate appointment related information to patients and/or carers. To support the administrative pathway ensuring patients are seen within the mandatory waiting time targets.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Communication
Service Delivery and Improvement
1. Required to be versatile and adaptable to the demands of the Neurology team. Work without supervision and take the initiative as and when required.
2. To assist the Neurology Consultants with administration and clerical duties relating to the day to day running of the department, including dealing with complex queries, recording of data, delivering training to new members of staff.
3. Manage and prioritise own workload and to be able to work independently.
4. Type complex documents.
5. Provide advice and assistance to patients, dealing with them in a sensitive, diplomatic and confidential manner.
6. Monitor clinic slot utilisation and pathway validation in line with RTT standards.
7. Maintain up to date knowledge and working practices of the patient access policy.
Patient Care Delivery
8. To act as a point of contact for clinical staff and patient enquiries to the department.
9. Use the patient administration system and patient management system and all appropriate aspects of Microsoft Office for updating and extracting patient information on a daily basis.

10. GCSE’s C or above in English and Maths and/or equivalent level of knowledge & experience.
11. RSA Stage III Typing or equivalent
