Overview

IT Specialist - Cyber Security at Mott MacDonald.

Location: Newcastle, United Kingdom. Contract: Permanent. Work pattern: Full Time.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

* Proactively seeking out the most effective means of monitoring data loss related activities, using existing tools or investigating new tools and methods.
* Assist in monitoring and resolution of data loss issues, driving forensic investigation and remediation as appropriate.
* Feedback all lessons learned into Operational and/or Governance systems.
* Drive and support cyber security related changes in Operational teams.
* Assist with driving cultural change to help people understand data loss risks and address security weaknesses.
* Communicate known threats and best practices for preventing data loss to the business and IT teams, evolving as threats change.
* Advise on data loss prevention (DLP) needs and appropriate use of systems or services, including projects with special security requirements.
* Act as a point of contact for data loss prevention within operational IT teams, escalating as required.
* Help ensure risk is measured and understood effectively by operational teams.
* Penetration testing and vulnerability assessments; prioritisation of security controls and remediation.
* Review and recommend tools and processes for information security around new and existing systems.
* Identify, review and evaluate technology risk; contribute to design choices for new systems to address security.


Candidate Specification


Essential

* Develop, implement, and manage data loss prevention policies, procedures, and strategies to protect sensitive information.
* Design and deploy DLP solutions to monitor, detect, and prevent data breaches across endpoints, networks, and cloud environments.
* Conduct risk assessments and gap analyses to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation measures.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate DLP solutions into existing infrastructure and applications.
* Monitor security events and incidents related to data loss and respond promptly to mitigate threats.
* Stay up to date with emerging threats and industry best practices in data loss prevention and information security.
* Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal stakeholders on DLP-related matters.
* Conduct training sessions and workshops to raise awareness of data security best practices among employees.


Desirable

* Incident Response Management: coordinate responses to security incidents (containment, eradication, recovery).
* Threat Intelligence Analysis: analyse threat intelligence feeds for emerging threats.
* Forensic Investigation: conduct digital forensic investigations to determine root causes and gather evidence.
* Cloud Security: knowledge of cloud security principles and controls.
* Security Information and Event Management (SIEM): configure, monitor, and analyse security events.
* Regulatory Compliance: understanding of GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS; ensure regulatory compliance.
* Penetration Testing: perform tests to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation.
* Security Awareness Training: develop and deliver training programs.
* Risk Management: conduct risk assessments and mitigation prioritisation.
* Programming and Scripting: basic proficiency to automate security tasks.
