Part-Time Commis Chef - Bembridge Sailing Club (Increasing Hours with Season)
Bembridge Sailing Club, situated in Bembridge Harbour, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Seasonal Commis Chef to join our catering team. This role offers potential for hours to increase as the sailing season progresses and the event schedule grows busier.
The Role
As our Part-Time Seasonal Commis Chef, you will support our senior chefs in all aspects of food preparation and service. You will gain hands-on experience catering for both regular member lunches and a range of club events, from informal gatherings to formal occasions. Your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with the preparation of fresh ingredients for daily lunch menus and event catering, including vegetables, meats, and fish.
* Maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workstation, adhering to high standards of hygiene and food safety.
* Learning and executing basic cooking techniques under the guidance of senior chefs.
* Assisting with the plating and presentation of dishes for both individual service and larger events.
* Helping with the setup and breakdown of catering for events.
* Receiving and storing deliveries of food and supplies, ensuring proper stock rotation.
* Contributing to a positive and collaborative kitchen team environment.
* Initially working part-time hours, with a clear expectation for these hours to increase as the sailing season progresses and the event schedule becomes busier.
Increasing Hours as the Season Picks Up
This role offers flexibility with initial part-time hours, ideal for a seasonal position with the opportunity for increased work as the club's activity ramps up. We anticipate a steady increase in hours, especially around key sailing events and busier periods. Your commitment and performance will be key to taking on more responsibilities and increasing your hours.
