Behaviour Support Mentor
Do you have experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour and want to make a real difference in their lives? We’re working with a specialist SEN school in Manchester that supports children and young people aged 7–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Autism (ASC), and behavioural challenges. The school is seeking a resilient, proactive Behaviour Support Mentor to join their team full-time from September.
This role is ideal for individuals with backgrounds in youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, social care, or residential support who are confident in building positive relationships and encouraging change.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
2. Implementing behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
3. Supporting students to engage with learning and improve social skills
4. Encouraging positive choices and building emotional resilience
5. Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral leads, and therapists to meet individual needs
6. Helping create a safe, consistent, and supportive school environment
What We’re Looking For:
7. Previous experience in behaviour support, youth work, mentoring, or similar roles
8. Calm, empathetic, and resilient under pressure
9. Confident in managing challenging behaviour and maintaining boundaries
10. A positive role model who inspires and motivates young people
11. A child-only Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
