What WSP Land Supports
WSP Land supports high-profile infrastructure projects across Energy, Highways, Water, Rail, Local Government and Aviation sectors.
* Energy — Projects critical for deploying renewable energy and helping the economy achieve net zero emissions, including hydrogen distribution and carbon capture technologies.
* Highways — From road improvements to major motorway schemes, including involvement with the M4 Smart Motorway project and other major road schemes.
* Rail — A 30+ year history with projects such as CTRL/HS1, Central Railway, Thameslink, West Coast Mainline Four Tracking, HS2 Phases 1–2b, TRU, EWR, and light rail/metros.
* Water — Supporting water resilience and distribution, including Tideway Tunnel.
* Local Government — Support to local authorities in land and property asset management.
* Aviation — Ongoing support to Heathrow Expansion, Birmingham and Luton Airport projects.
Land Referencing
We are the largest and most successful Land business supporting infrastructure development in the UK and Ireland, with 300+ specialist colleagues. We deliver land referencing, land acquisition, land access, formal consents, statutory orders and landowner engagement across all sectors, aiming to impact economy and communities positively. We provide clients with land-related statutory documentation to comply with planning processes and secure rights, while ensuring data security and meaningful engagement with landowners and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Junior Land Consultant — This role involves directly supporting the wider team in identifying landowners, occupiers and other parties with a legal interest in land, through research and interpretation of various information. You will assist with land access, landowner engagement, stakeholder engagement, and support projects through consenting stages/statutory processes. You will work with over 300 Land colleagues across the UK, Ireland and India on high-profile projects across energy, highways, rail, water, local government and aviation sectors. You will also conduct desktop research (land registry title interpretation, company details checks, address validations) and contribute to the delivery and success of projects. This role reports to a Consultant/Senior Land Consultant and includes participation in our CPD-accredited Land Academy with full training provided on-the-job. Travel within the UK and Ireland is possible.
What We Will be Looking For You to Demonstrate
* Recently graduated with a degree in Geography, Land/Estate Management, Agriculture or other relevant discipline and/or experience related to land use and ownership.
* Experience in desktop researching and problem-solving to identify landowners/occupiers, land interests and rights in land.
* Willingness to visit sites with the team to speak with landowners and stakeholders (accommodation and expenses provided if staying away).
* Good communication and organisational skills with data management experience.
* Proficiency in reading maps and interrogating datasets.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate findings.
* Experience using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
* Ability to travel to various sites/locations as a necessary function of the role.

Scotland — Our Scotland team covers Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth, working with 300+ Land colleagues across the UK, Ireland and India. The role can be based in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Perth with hybrid working options. We focus on land consulting across energy, water, road, rail and active-travel sectors in Scotland and nationally.
UK & Ireland-wide — We support high-profile infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland, including Project Union, Heathrow Expansion, Thames Tideway, Dublin MetroLink, TRU, East West Rail, HyNet and HS2. The role can be based at one of WSP’s offices with hybrid working from home.
