An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Division of Surgery & Cancer in the recruitment of a highly motivated and dynamic band 6 nurse for Primrose ward for a one year secondment. The successful candidate must be an innovative, hardworking and enthusiastic adult nurse with a broad range of skills and experiences. You must possess and be able to demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills. We are seeking to appoint a compassionate and caring nurse who will be able to work closely with the ward manager to deliver outstanding care for the patients in East London & beyond.

Main duties of the job
Responsible for supporting the Ward Manager in the delivery of consistently high standards of care to meet the service needs of the patients and the Trust objectives.
The post holder will be a role model of the Barts Health values and key behaviours to all members of the team and the wider MDT.
As a senior member of the Ward team, the band 6 will be a competent confident practitioner who can care for, and manage the deteriorating and acutely ill patient, escalating concerns to the appropriate medical and outreach teams.
The post holder must have competent management and facilitation skills in order to co ordinate and supervise the activity of ward staff, promote multi-disciplinary working and foster a supportive, learning environment.
In the absence of the Ward Manager the post holder will assume responsibility for the effective operation of the ward, including audit and budgetary roles, that the ward environment is maintained in a clean safe way, and all staff follow the Trusts infection control policy, dress code and all other Trust policies and protocols.
As a Registered Nurse the post holder is expected to consistently act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
