Engineering Test and Facilities Lead (H/F)
SAFRAN ELECTRICAL & POWER UK LTD recruits:
This role is responsible for managing the Engineering Test and Means team and facilities, utilizing available resources to perform Validation and Verification (V&V) activities on Safran Electrical and Power (SEP) products. The role involves collaborating with the Test Equipment team in Operations at Pitstone and other similar V&V teams across SAFRAN sites.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage the Test and Means team, including the Environmental team of approximately 10 engineers, senior work package owners, and external contractors as needed.
2. Support the definition and achievement of annual Business Objectives, including monitoring and corrective actions.
3. Define the testing schedule for all SEP programmes, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of all Test and V&V activities.
4. Oversee the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Engineering Test Laboratory, including 12 Test cells and Environmental Chambers/Rigs, ensuring maintenance, calibration, and development to support current and future products.
5. Maintain appropriate staffing and skill levels aligned with Business needs.
6. Ensure successful delivery of Work Packages for Machine and Drive Systems Test activities, and other deliverables for Product Support and Operations as required.
7. Establish and enforce processes specific to Test activities for internal and external teams.
8. Lead the resolution of highly complex and unusual problems within the Test and Means function.
9. Manage Capital Expenditure (as per approval with Validation and Verification Engineering Manager) and Operational Expenditure (~£250k annually) for equipment maintenance and repairs.
10. Optimize value for money in engineering performance.
Minimum Requirements:
* Experience in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or a relevant qualification.
* Understanding of development and certification processes, including compliance verification, technical risk, documentation, testing, and instrumentation.
* Knowledge of 3-stage generators, control units, and aircraft electrical systems; experience with motors and smart motors is advantageous.
* Familiarity with RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and similar environmental test standards.
* Experience in facility and HSE management within a testing environment.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, across all organizational levels.
* Ability to analyze complex problems and devise effective solutions.
* Methodical, systematic working approach, promoting knowledge sharing and safety.
* Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience managing large teams or projects.
* Ability to adhere to schedules, follow through tasks, and meet deadlines.
* Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
* Change management skills; ISO/IEC 17025 knowledge is a plus.
