Mechanical Supervisor

Rate: £28.00 per hour
Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm (10 hours paid)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee day-to-day mechanical works on a Cooling Tower Replacement project in Croydon. This role will involve supervising subcontractors during active construction works, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification, while liaising with the client site team.
Construction activities will be ongoing on site throughout the duration of the project.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision & Contractor Management
* Supervise and coordinate mechanical subcontractors during active construction works.
* Oversee HVAC, pipework, plant replacement and associated builders' works.
* Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and programme.
* Plan and sequence works in line with the overall construction schedule.
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Enforce strict Health & Safety standards in line with RAMS and CDM Regulations.
* Monitor contractor compliance and safe systems of work.
* Conduct toolbox talks, daily briefings and site inspections.
* Proactively identify hazards and implement control measures.
Quality, Programme & Reporting
* Monitor installation quality and ensure compliance with industry standards.
* Track progress against programme and report delays or risks.
* Coordinate works alongside other trades on site.
* Maintain site records and provide weekly progress reports.
Skills & Experience Required
* Strong HVAC / Mechanical Building Services background.
* Proven experience supervising contractors on active construction sites.
* Good knowledge of UK construction regulations and standards.
* Ability to read and interpret drawings.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
* Gold CSCS (minimum)
* First Aid
* SMSTS or SSSTS
* Enhanced DBS required
