4-5 months contract with local authority

The primary purpose of this role is to conduct and assist in investigations, playing key roles such as researching, gathering evidence, and liaising with Children Social Care. The role involves undertaking joint investigative actions with statutory partners and attending child protection case conferences. The Investigation Support Officer (ISO) will perform various investigative and safeguarding duties to secure the best evidence and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental investigations.



Responsibilities


* Interview witnesses and victims, assist in suspect interviews, and take accurate statements for case files.
* Coordinate and manage the seizure and analysis of CCTV footage, and conduct house-to-house inquiries.
* Perform investigative research, maintain records, and produce reports to support departmental investigations.
* Support and liaise with victims and witnesses, providing updates and ensuring they receive appropriate support.
* Assist in searches, act as exhibits officer, and ensure the integrity and security of evidence.
* Submit complete paperwork within set time limits, ensuring evidential integrity.
* Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and policies to ensure high standards in investigations.
* Communicate effectively with children's social care, attend case conferences, and complete joint safeguarding actions.
* Conduct safeguarding actions to mitigate risks to victims, witnesses, and suspects.




Requirements

* must possess a full clean UK driving license.
* ABE (Achieving Best Evidence) training is required.
* PIP2 and SOTO (Sexual Offence Trained Officer) qualifications are desirable.
* Experience in safeguarding vulnerable persons and conducting criminal investigations is desirable.
* High flexibility, motivation, and excellent communication skills are essential.
* Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and statutory partners.
* Proficient organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Good working knowledge of IT applications, including Microsoft Office; familiarity with force intelligence systems like Athena and PNC is ideal.
* High level of integrity due to handling confidential and sensitive material.
* Flexibility to work extended hours and start at different locations as required.
