This field-based Technical Services role reports directly to the UK Sales Manager and works closely with the wider sales team. The position is responsible for delivering technical support across a portfolio of Industrial Wood Coatings accounts, encompassing both direct customers and distributor-supplied clients.
1. Ensuring that technical support is provided on a timely basis to key customers
2. Customer technical priorities based on changing customer demands
3. Ensure that line trials are carried out in line with customer expectations
4. Organising site visits and reports as may be requested from time to time by customers
5. Provide support to the laboratory function at Knottingley
6. Maintain good constructive relationships with equipment manufacturers and other ancillary suppliers to our key segments
7. Identify customer training needs and deliver training presentations
8. Build strong relationships within the customer teams
9. Have visibility on commercial decisions and results by maintaining a strong partnership with the sales team
10. Degree in Chemistry, Material Science or related discipline is preferable but not essential
11. In-depth knowledge of SW’s Industrial Wood Coatings range and of the technologies and application techniques available
12. Close technical understanding of equipment used by our customers
13. Able to communicate/interface effectively with people from different departments and levels
14. Strong Leadership and Interpersonal skills
15. Effective Time Management skills, able to make preparations and prioritise
16. Open and approachable; able to reach out to others and build strong working relationships
17. Strong technical knowledge of products and application lines and extensive experience in product development and problem solving
18. Ability to inspire confidence in the customer
19. Will be required to travel to customers, production sites and technical meetings both in region and, occasionally, internationally
