As a Skills Tutor, a typical day might include:
1. Delivering an effective and motivating curriculum across sites as required
2. Ensuring our curriculum intent is embedded in all teaching, and sequencing is achieved through all delivery
3. Supporting the creation of schemes of work, lesson plans and appropriate teaching resources for own teaching sessions
4. Complete funding paperwork and other admin duties as required in line with guidelines.
5. Supporting learners on a day-to-day basis to address obstacles, raise confidence and self-esteem, develop social and work skills and achieve goals
6. Developing and supporting links and engagement activties with partner organisations and employers in order to develop new opportunities for learners (eg. activities to promote personal and social skills, work placements, development of tutorial sessions and CPD activities)
7. Helping learners to identify and record progression opportunities - further learning, apprenticeships or employment
8. To complete learner records and monitoring reports
9. To help develop techniques to monitor progress and evaluate the programmes, including effective ways of encouraging learner feedback
10. Lead on the involvement of young people in our programme development through learner voice activities
11. To help with the achievement of organisational recruitment and quality targets across all programmes
12. To work effectively with other members of the team across the organisation to share practice and develop the quality of the programme
13. Being responsible for Quality Assurance of your teaching to ensure our learners receive the best service possible.
14. Planning, preparing, delivering and evaluating all the courses you deliver across the provision.
15. Lead on course outline information and schemes of work for courses you deliver, ensuring all is in place at all times.
16. Monitoring, marking and assessing learners’ work and progress preparing learners to succeed in achieving their qualifications, delivering and sourcing high quality support for our learners as required.
17. Carrying out a pastoral role as a personal tutor to students, including conducting tutorials and regular reviews on a one-to-one basis with learners.
What we'd like to see on your CV:
18. Relevant professional/Subject qualifications at least to level 3 or an in-depth knowledge and substantial experience in the subject area.
19. Teaching qualification appropriate for working in Post 16 Sector, and/or willingness to undergo further training.
20. L3 Education and Training or willingness to undertake this
21. Awareness of the needs of underachieving and disengaged young people
22. Ability to deal with behaviours that challenge at times
23. Experience of working positively with young people
24. Good time management and organisational skills
25. Good standard of English, maths and ICT
26. Experience of delivering within a community setting to all ages
