 
        
        Ackerman Pierce is currently supporting a leading local authority within Southend to recruit for a Social Worker for the Children with Disabilities Team on a permanent basis paying £39,152- £45,091 P/Annum.
Our client has a well-structured and organized team that is looking to grow their staffing levels. The role offers flexible working hours and has a supportive team culture with regular supervision on cases. Southend is embedding a systemic approach and is currently undergoing several changes focused on reducing caseloads and improving outcomes for families. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast‑paced and supportive team.
Main Duties
 * Work with children, their families, and other agencies to meet assessed needs and support them to achieve their potential.
 * Include assessment, planning and interventions with Children in Need, Children Looked After and Children in need of Protection, as well as young people preparing for adulthood.
 * Apply a social work qualification and an understanding of the impact of disability on children's lives.
 * Be passionate about making a difference and use creative and personalised approaches alongside the team's Signs of Safety and My Plan approach to achieve positive outcomes for children.
 * Work in partnership with disabled children and their families, as well as colleagues in Education, Health, the Voluntary & Community sector, and wider Children and Lifelong Services.
 * Prepare and submit written reports as and when required, including statements and care plans for care proceedings in the Family Proceedings, County, and High Courts.

Minimum Requirements
 * SWE Registration.
 * One year post‑qualifying experience within the UK Social Care industry.
 * Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you).
 * Eligibility to work in the UK.
 * Prior experience working within the children with disabilities team.
 * Knowledge of child protection, LAC, and associated social work practices.
 * Knowledge and understanding of the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families (attachment theory, enabling change, behaviour management).
