Acute Oncology / Cancer Of Unknown Primary Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Acute Oncology and CUP Service within a busy District General Hospital.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering specialist care to patients presenting with acute cancer-related complications and suspected cancer of unknown primary. The post holder will play a key role in improving patient outcomes, supporting early intervention, and enhancing patient experience across acute and ambulatory settings
Main duties of the job
* Assess, support and manage patients with acute oncology and CUP presentations in ambulatory and inpatient settings.
* Contribute to the UKONS Acute Oncology Triage Helpline, providing timely telephone assessment and advice.
* Support ambulatory care pathways to avoid unnecessary admissions and promote safe discharge.
* Provide outreach advice and support to ward teams caring for in-patients with acute oncology needs.
* Act as a key point of contact for patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
* Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate safe, effective care.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and elevate concerns appropriately.
* Contribute to service improvement, audit and education activities.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered nurse 1st level with current NMC registration
* Evidence of continuous professional development
3>Experience
* Experience of caring for patients in the Cancer setting (Either Haematology or Oncology).
* or/and Experience in Acute Medicine or Emergency Medicine.
* Experience of leadership in recent clinical role.
* Experience of recognising and managing the complications of SACT
* Experience in the care of patients with Cancer of Unknown Primary
