Job Details Job Title: Mechanical Supervisor Location: Hertfordshire Start Date: ASAP Working Hours: Monday to Friday, Full-Time 43 hours a week About the Role: We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Supervisor to join a leading M&E building services contractor for a long-term prison project based in Hertfordshire. This role is ideally suited to a detail-focused professional with a strong technical foundation in mechanical building services, particularly within secure or highly regulated environments. Key Responsibilities: Oversee and coordinate all mechanical services works on the prison project, including HVAC, public health, BMS, and plumbing systems. Review and manage project documentation such as technical drawings, RAMS, O&M manuals, commissioning plans, and submittals. Interface with the main contractor, specialist subcontractors, and client-side representatives to ensure work aligns with the programme and technical specifications. Conduct quality control inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications. Participate in progress meetings, offering updates and addressing any issues related to mechanical systems. Provide feedback on design intent, installation strategies, and technical documentation. Maintain accurate project records and contribute to health & safety compliance, including toolbox talks and risk assessments. Assist in the coordination and execution of commissioning and final project handover documentation. Qualifications & Experience: NVQ Level 3 or above in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or equivalent discipline. SSSTS or SMSTS certification. CSCS Skill Card Proven experience supervising mechanical services on commercial or public-sector construction projects—experience in secure environments such as prisons or healthcare is highly desirable. Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and controls (BMS). Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Excellent communication, organisational, and coordination skills.
