About EIT

At the Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT), we are on a mission to translate scientific discovery into real world impact by bringing together visionary scientists, technologists, engineers, researchers, educators, and innovators to tackle humanity’s greatest challenges.

We focus on four transformative areas:

* Health, Medical Science & Generative Biology
* Food Security & Sustainable Agriculture
* Climate Change & Managing CO₂
* Artificial Intelligence & Robotics

The Generative Biology Institute (GBI)

Led by Founding Director Jason Chin, the GBI at EIT tackles the challenges of making biology engineerable, unlocking its power for the benefit of humanity. We aim to write in the natural language of biology and determine which DNA sequences generate desired functions, enabling transformative solutions across health, agriculture, clean energy, and more. GBI began operations in 2025 and will soon move to a purpose‑made facility in Oxford Science Park with over 40,000 m² of research space.
